The Building Project
We hope to construct a building, as in this architect's sketch, to house up to nine monks as well as occasional guests. It would be located about 30 yards below the goma-do. To carry out this project, we would need contributions of both capital and labor.
Preliminary Plans
Moving closer to realization of this project we have some plans and elevations to help visualize the new community building. View PDF - 1MB

Women's Monastery: A Future Possibility
In the Buddhist world, there is a precept against "disparaging women, who are the source of wisdom". And while the men in the monastery live a celibate life in order to train in concentration, they likewise do not disparage women. However the anomaly of the times is that women have substantially more interest in the monastic life than do men. This is most noticeable in Taiwan, where it is said that about 80% of the robed Buddhists are women.
Bearing in mind this trend, it is possible that CTM could in the future host on its land a separate women's monastery. The unique configuration of the land provides a construction site with access to roads, electricity and water while at the same time being more than 20 minutes distant from the men's unit. The possibility could become a reality were there an abbess trained in the Tendai tradition.
